2006 annual wrap-up

1. What did you do in 2006 that you’d never done before?
Get married. This answer will become a recurring theme, I tell ya!

2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't think I made any, and I don't think I will make any for next year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
No.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No.

5. What countries did you visit?
While driving in Niagara Falls with Amanda, I made a wrong turn and visited the US for about a minute.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?
Sleep.

7. What dates from 2006 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
March 24th. Wedding date!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Getting married.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Still not as good with money as I'd like to be. Haven't really lost any belly fat.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I got food poisoning on my wedding night, followed by a wicked 3-day migraine. Also, some stupid gym freak injuries: I threw out my back picking up a barbell to deadlift (how ironic!) and inflamed some vertebrae, from leaning on the handlebars too heavily during spin class.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
hmmm. A wedding ring, lots of beautiful antiques at bargain prices, lots of pretty things for my house.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Greg for putting up with me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A certain blogger who got married in October. She has the completely opposite values and beliefs and lifestyle from me. Her behaviour appalled and amused, but didn't depress me. People who whine about how horrible their life is but don't do anything to improve it depress me. I am not talking about anyone in particular here.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Food, gas, pedicures.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
- wedding day!
- moving to our house in January
- getting a kitty
- going to see Wicked in October

16. What song will always remind you of 2006?
Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? MUCH happier
b) thinner or fatter? heavier (read: more muscle, not fat!)
c) richer or poorer? a couple bucks richer, I think.

18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Spend time with Greg.

19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Work.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With family.

21. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I fall in love with Greg more and more every day. And I love that little mischievious kittypants as well.

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Hockey Night in Canada

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I hate the gym that I worked at for 6 months this year. But not any one particular person.

25. What was the best book you read?
Cat Owner's Manual

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Perhaps a little late "discovering" her - Kelly Clarkson.

27. What did you want and get?
A house, a cat, a husband, and a laptop.

28. What did you want and not get?
A spa day and Riata cycling shoes.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
I made it through 2006 without seeing a single movie in a theatre. I saw Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price at home. It's the only movie I can recall watching this year.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I'm sure I taught piano, and I worked out. I turned 28.

31.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
As always, more money, and more sleep.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Mornings: Lululemon, Nike, Adidas shoes, gym uniform
Afternoons/Evenings: professional/business casual

33. What kept you sane?
Greg, happy pills, the cat, exercise.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Britney was definitely the biggest trainwreck.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Wal-Mart
.

36. Who did you miss?
These guys.

37. Who was the best new person you met?
Haven't met her in real life yet...Nightfire.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006.
Don't eat food that smells funky, especially on important occasions like your wedding reception. Make plans based on specific goals.

Bitching about bitches

2 of my older female personal training clients are total bitches. They like to throw the fact that I'm younger than them in my face, even if it's completely irrelevant.

Bitch: You're young, you don't understand anything about being busy.

or,

Bitch: Sometimes when you're old, emergencies happen (as I was explaining the 24 hour cancellation policy).

These clients also complain, make snarky comments and are generally disagreeable. Is there some "get off my lawn!" gene that kicks in once a woman gets past 60?

What the hell happens to women as they age to cause them to be so goddamn bitter?
