Halloween weekend: comparisons

What a difference a year makes.

Last year: Steph and I, in full costume, went to McDicks in a walk-through ketchup paper cup heist..hey, we needed them to make Jell-o shots!

This year: My boy Greg and I went to the Everything To Do With Sex Show. There were a lot of people. I guess it shouldn't be surprising, but it's just strange to see women my mom's age and older demonstrating pussy shavers, the latest vibrating gizmo and leather whips. I'm kinda glad that people are more open-minded than ever before. We then went shopping on Yonge St. and Greg got new shoes (because he would be sad if I didn't mention that), dinner at Salad King (7 on the infamous chili scale is the perfect level for me), drinks at Avenue (where there was a very obvious tranny at the bar), followed by a long bath with a Lush bath bomb.

Terra Blues chips

What can I say? They're bl00! Very thick chip, about 3mm, and white and blue-purple (indigo) marbled rather than the solid colour as shown on the bag. I rikey. Maybe they should be the official chip of the Leafs.

School junk food ban

Critics, however, assailed the government for meddling in the business of parents and for ignoring a pressing funding crisis at Ontario schools.

Many parents I think, have no idea what their kids need to be healthy. More nutritional education for everyone. More PE, especially activities that focus on fitness rather than athleticism. (something that I never thought I'd say!) There's a lot of these grass-roots movements being made in the US, which include allowing kids to drink water or eat fruits and veggies at their desks and learning gardens & kitchens. It is too bad the government doesn't have the cash to implement such ideas and instead have to do the most lame of many possible solutions. Still, it's a start.

Denser than packing foam

I read the phrase "help the Browns reach the Superbowl" in dooce's mega-poop extravaganza yesterday and I didn't realize until now that they weren't talking about football.

Bonk

I teach aerobics in an upstairs room with a balcony that overlooks the main floor where the meatheads do 8 million bad-formed swinging bicep curls. The stability balls are in the corner of the room, right by the balcony edge. I do not place my ball nicely in the corner, but rather just toss it from the middle of the room. Someday, I am going to overthrow, the ball is going to go over the balcony and bonk one of the meatheads in mid-bicep swing. It's gonna happen, mark my words!

PS. I got that job at my gym. I teach a weights class on Tuesdays at 11:30am starting in November. I also get the Free Membership! By my calculations, it should take about 18 months of working there to earn back all the money I've spent on memberships there in the past 4 years. Rawk.

Orfus Road rocks

Wow, I can't believe I've never blogged about my shopping adventures on Orfus Road before. It's a street near Yorkdale that's all outlet stores and assorted cheap junk. I last went 2 years ago on the traditional official 1st day of Christmas shopping - Thanksgiving Sunday - and every store was a mosh pit. To those who don't enjoy moshing your way towards cheap cool clothing as much as I do - the deals are still on Thankgiving Monday, minus the crowds.

Here's my haul. In addition to that, I also got a new wool/cashmere winter coat from Fairweather for $129.

Coffee Conspiracy

Tim Hortons claims that their coffee contains no additives, but I think I've figured out the secret.

In order to cut down on sugar and calories, I now get my Timmy's with a single cream & sugar instead of double-double. And the coffee, while still very tasty, seems to lack the kick of the double-double.

So, could it be that while the coffee is pure, the addictive crack lies in the cream and sugar?

Or I could just be a sugar addict. :caffeine

Who's next?

LONDON - "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling said Friday that one of her characters will not survive the next book in her series about the young wizard.

She can't kill off anyone in The Trio, of course..I'm going to go out on a limb and put my vote in for a Weasley, but not Ron or Ginny. Let's say Arthur. He almost died in OoTP, right? I think Dumbledore will die, but not until the 7th book.

Need/Want

Things I need:
- new Nike Shox
- box of contact lenses
- shave gel
- a car wash

Things I want:
- everything from Victoria's Secret
- lip service patent leather pantz0rs
- a new job

At least on the job front, the aerobics coordinator at my gym called yesterday and wants to hire me for a regular teachign position and is looking for a spot to start a class for me. I don't want to teach there 5 days a week or anything, I just want a) at least 2 classes a week @ $25/class to offset the $38.47 monthly fee, or b) one class a week and a free membership. Either way, I just want to get back some of the $$$ I've spent on gym memberships over the years.

PS: I'm lurving X-entertainment.

Things learned

Things I learned this weekend:

1. I probably have every sports injury in the book and should get my ass to physiotherapy ASAP.
2. I've been doing every exercise wrong for the past 4 years.
3. Toronto is too fucking loud.
