Monday Mission - 7/29/2002

Monday Mission:

1. What is your favorite snack food? Does anyone you know have weird tastes in snacks?
I'd say cinnamon hearts and Man Pocky. I feel sick to my stomach right now and do NOT want to think about food.

2. Ever caught yourself saying "well it can't get any worse" and it does? What's the story there?
I don't usually say it, because it CAN and WILL get worse.

3. I have a super-short attention span, and it always was my downfall in school, especially math class. What's your attention span like and how has it served you?
My attention span is ok, I just have a really bad memory.

4. Do you believe in the existence of extra-terrestrials?
Yes, but the thought of them visiting scares the shit out of me.

5. What do you think of the whole "crop circles" phenomenon?
See above.

6. Ever had a time where you begin visiting with someone you don't know all that well and just find you "click" like long lost pals? Tell me about how that came to happen, and who was it? What kind of things do you have in common?
Heh, Vin, the first time he came to visit. We both like sports and music but I always find it's being able to have compatible personalities rather than have common interests.

7. When I was at the cemetery a few weeks ago, I began to recall my Dad's funeral so many years ago. It is so vivid, sitting there in the family room as his friends passed by and paid their respects, the music, his face, the tears. What funeral do you remember most vividly?
Only ever been to one, my grandma (dad's side) I don't remember much about it. These days I go to a funeral about once a month and I don't remember anything about them either.

BONUS: How can I forget you, girl?
I hate these bonus questions. They make my brain hurt.

This week's comment topic: Are ya Left or Right handed?
Lefties are the only people in their right mind. :pleased

Gotta go lie down.

Z o r bl o g owns!

56.25 %

My weblog owns 56.25 % of me.
Does your weblog own you?

California girl

Went back to Santa Barbara this weekend. It was so trippy to see the old house and old school and meet ghosts of myself at every corner.

Ate a lot..
Sunned and swam a bit..
Shopped a bit..

I got a new spork for the collection from a thrift store.

I've been keeping a written journal, because I didn't come out here to sit online for hours. Only for AN hour. Ha ha ha.

Friday Five - 7/26/2002

Friday Five:

1. How long have you had a weblog?
I think it was late April/early May 2000, at the time exporting was completely unheard of.

2. What was your first post about?
I distinctly remember the 2nd post being about baseball.

3. How many changes (name, location, etc.) of your weblog have there been, if more than one?
Originally my blog was called Rants & Ravings (how original!) and it was on Geocities because Crosswinds (where my site was at the time) didn't have FTP. Then it was on my Rogers/@home account. Then on leafqueen.net. Last month, Z o r bl o g got its own domain.

4. What CMS (content management system) do you use? Do you like it or do you want to try something else?
I started out with Blogger, which was basically the only thing around at the time, and I thought it was, and STILL think it is incredibly confusing. Once I figured out how to chmod, Greymatter was a cinch. But now I use MT, which I think is far superior to Greymatter, because Mena and Ben are interested in constantly improving the program, whereas Noah Grey seems to have been overwhelmed by the popularity of Greymatter and disappeared from BlogLand, leaving the development to others, who, IMHO, haven't done much.

5. Do you read people who have both a journal and a weblog? Or do you prefer to read people who have all of their writing in one central place?
I don't see why there should be 2. Call me stupid, what's the difference anyways?

I'm off

beach.jpg

It’s the edge of the world
And all of western civilization
The sun may rise in the East
At least it settles in the final location
It’s understood that Hollywood
Sells Californication

Fear not, I will keep blogging!

Pope in Toronto

Call me crazy, but I am kinda sad that I don't get to go hear the Pope say Mass this Sunday.

Rejoice, and be glad
Blessed are you, holy are you
Rejoice, and be glad
Yours is the kingdom of God

Monday Mission - 7/22/2002

Monday Mission:

1. Do you remember your first encounter with computers? Tell me about that.
I remember when we got an Apple IIe in 1983 and my dad teaching me how to use a mouse and I played some game with shapes.

2. How late can you stay up and still be functional the next day? Do you do that very often?
I've gotten home at 6am and worked the next morning at 9. This only happens maybe twice a year.

3. When was the last really good hug you got from another adult? Who was it and what was the situation?
Hmmmm...Chris...in his bedroom...

4. One thing about children is that they all like to draw. We all shared the same ability and skill level at one time. Do you still like to draw? (Not do you think you draw well, or do others, but do you like to?) If not, how come? Did you get discouraged at some point?
At one point about a year and a half ago, I suddenly got inspired to draw little caricatures of people and really managed to capture the 'essence' of their character. It only lasted for about a couple of months.

5. I way overslept today. I had to head to work with no shower (don't get too close), and I am not in the best of moods. Have you ever overslept on a day you had something important going on? What's the story there?
I once took an afternoon nap and my alarm didn't go off. Woke up at 4:27 and my lesson was at 4:30.

6. Ever go shopping for something you know you can't afford? You look at it and even think about how it will look when you get it home, somehow you justify the cost and believe it can happen? And just before you get to the counter come to your senses? What was the last thing you almost bought, but thought better of it? And why the heck do we do that to ourselves?
a) all the freakin' time!
b) sometimes I'll put something back because I don't need it RIGHT NOW. (did that with razor refills on Saturday)
c) There were lots of good clothing sales this past weekend, but I stopped myself because I know I'll see a lot more cool stuff on vacation next week.
d) because I'm a shopaholic.

7. (It begins again...) It's all such a blur now. I'd asked you to help me wake up but the alarm didn't go off. It was 10 till and just I knew I'd be late. Somehow you got me here on time. How did you do that?
I poured a glass of ice water on your head. :mischievious

July 21, 2002

a weekend from hell

So it started yesterday morning with an aerobics class that featured an hour of cardio...somehow the instructor forgot about the 'sculpt' part of the Step & Sculpt class. I leave the gym feeling un-worked out.

I take that back.

Friday afternoon, some holier-than-thou rightwing tightass bitch from chat decides it's her moral duty to tell off everyone who doesn't share the same beliefs as her (i.e. everyone who at least partially acknowledges humans as sexual beings) and proceeds to call me a dirty slut. When asked to explain her reasons, her best comeback was "you die from having sex!" Here's a news flash...Life sucks. Then you die. so if I try to make things suck a little less, don't be bitter about it, k?

Saturday - I went to the mall to buy something for Amanda, the store is sold out of the perfect gift, I had to settle for something far less cool.

- the August 15th Ozzfest show that Vin and I were going to is one of the cancelled shows. Trying to get tickets for another date though.

- bought hella cool white hair dye at the mall, only to discover that my bleach is probably too old, and my hair looks basically the same, except with a couple of lighter blond streaks. This is also fixable, but what a pain!

- got all my song choices for church this morning vetoed in favour of boring shit.

- site was down for several hours yesterday morning, turns out that my account is using a LOT of resources on the machine and they switched me to a faster server...EXCEPT! the MT MySQL database gets fucked up in the move (although it was copied exactly) and I try valiantly for several hours last night to fix stuff, but everyone's archives are unrecoverable to a new install of MT. If anyone can help, let me know. However, I got a $10 discount for next month's hosting.

- cowards claiming to have found my cam site via BME (bullshit, total outright LIE) calls my piercings ugly. Of course, true to the form of cowards, the guilty parties fail to leave an email address or other contact information.

Sunday - wake up at 5:30am to start putting Z o r bl o g back together. Already 5 minutes late, I run to McDicks drive-thru to grab breakkie before church, they make me park and wait FOREVER for my food, by the time the girl brings my stuff, I'm in the doorway ready to throw a spaz, and I figure since I'm already late I may as well throw a spaz at her regardless. She answers back extremely sarcastically and runs off, I don't have a chance to report her to her manager.

- get attacked by more anal rightwing freaks in chat.

and that, boys and girls, is how I spent my weekend. :furious

Bear with me

Words cannot describe how fucking pissed off I am right now.
