Say it ain't so...
Leaving aside, for a moment, the Twins and White Sox in the AL Central, it says here the key to the rest of the AL race might lie in the 42-year-old right arm of Roger Clemens, whose 1.30 ERA suggests he still can pitch a little. The Astros, having fallen apart, will be looking to send Clemens somewhere. There is ample suggestion in the public prints he will consider only a return to New York or his big-league roots in Boston. At the risk of offending the tradition that says everything in baseball needs to be stamped official by either the Yankees or Red Sox, what about Clemens in Texas with the Rangers? Or — and don't laugh — what about Clemens here with the Blue Jays?
