Zits
I'm turning 25 in ten days and I'm still plagued by acne and oily skin. Obviously, I'm totally fed up with this and bought a Dr. Hauschka Daily Face Care Kit from The Big Carrot today. I'm also trying to drink more water and green tea and to eat less processed crap. It is really too bad that organic, natural foods cost so much more than greasy, artificial junk, because that's not the way things should work.
Here's my question:
For those of you who suffer from bad skin, which products work for you?

Hey I love this layout. It's even more impressive than that last one I was so impressed with. The one with the cherries. To answer your question about bad skin... St. Ives medicated scrub, the apricot one. It works great. Plus a small tip that you might or might not get from a specialist. If you sleep with your head under the covers, this can cause problems with the pours on your face. You might not sleep that way but I thought I would pass it on to you or anybody else who might read this. - Great looking layout. Have a good summer. (however that may be) scottie

acutane worked miracles for me (and was dirt cheap when i lived in toronto). Cetaphil face wash is great. there's also other stuff the dermatologist told me about. retin-a is really quite good too. perscription is the best. over the counter stuff really can't get rid of acne cuz it's not internally medicated enough. plus, a lot has to do with hormones and other endocrin-based things rather than what you eat. someone can eat a vat of pork fat for years and never get a zit vs. someone who eats nothing but organic veggies who might break out into a pizza face (like the sedin twins). keeping your face clean, not touching your face, not using hair-care products like hairspray and gels and shit...that helps keep the pores clean.
but, once again, i can't help but brag about acutane...i have maybe had a total of 10 zits since i took the stuff...way back in '98-99! plus, it cleared the baby acne on my arms AND any scars I had.

oooh. getting rid of scars? I like the sound of that. And I'll second Amanda on the retin-a prescription - I got that when I was in grade 10. and since then my acne has been much better (however not non-existant)

Are you on the pill? 'Cause if you are anyway, you should ask your doctor about Diane35. That's what I'm on and it's mainly used to control acne. Changes the levels of androgens or something in the body. Works beautifully.

I was plagued by bad skin up till I was 26. I said screw it, I've had enough! Went on ortho tri-cyclen (oral birth control for those playing along at home) and it has been amazing. And I've lost 60 pounds in the interim, drink about 120 ounces of water a day and work out 5 days a week. So I'm not sure which factor has helped the most; I'm just going to keep on trucking with what I'm doing now.
