Premature Plans
I've made up my mind that if/when I get married, my wedding won't cost more than $1000 or take longer than a week to plan.
This is how it's going to be done. As far as I'm concerned, this is the way weddings should be done!
A funeral has many of the same elements as a wedding, and those are pulled together in 3 days or so. It's a gathering of people for a ceremony and a party afterwards.
Dress - I've never owned a formal dress that cost more than $20. I don't intend to start with the wedding dress. I'll either rip the sleeves off my mom's dress (which cost her $125 30 years ago) or buy something for 90% off from the mall.
cost: $0-20
Invitations - E-mail.
cost: $0
Food - A sushi party plate. My parents had Jello Jigglers and a cold cut platter from the grocery store.
cost: $200
Booze - BYOB. :wodka
cost: $0
Music - mp3's
cost: $0
Flowers, decorations, etc. - Not necessary, especially Imaginary Fiancé and I run off to Gretna Green or Vegas.
I'd prefer to have a church wedding, and that's where the major expenses are: church musicians, and paying the priest.
cost: I'll be generous and say $400
Rings - Wal-Mart and Sears have some nice pieces.
cost: $200
Bridesmaids - I don't really have any close female friends, but if Amanda wants to be the maid of honour, she can wear one of her Hot Topic goth dresses.
cost: $0
TOTAL COST: $820
So there are my plans. All I need now is a guy to marry. Hello? Any volunteers?
