Weekly Wrap-Up - Beauty
1. What is your definition of "beauty"? Has this changed over time?
When I was a kid, I used to think the stereotypical blond hair, blue eyes was the epitome of beauty. I could try to wax philosophical about 'inner beauty' and all that crap...I still think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Although, I still find men with blond hair and blue eyes to be very bootifulicious! :drool
2. Who (famous or not famous) do you think is beautiful? Why?
Laetitia Casta, Kate Winslet, Anna Kournikova, Frances Sand
3. Is it possible to be both beautiful and ugly? How?
For sure. I can think of 2 examples:
i) Physical beauty but an ugly personality
ii) A supermodel/movie star/famous person without makeup :laugh
4. Why does society place so much emphasis on beauty? Will this ever change? Why or why not?
I think society places more emphasis on thinness=beauty. Personally, I wish it would change to healthy=beauty. There is nothing attractive about an overweight person scarfing down food like there's no tomorrow.
5. How does beauty vary from culture to culture? Is there a particular culture's definition of beauty that you admire? Why?
I wish body modification was more accepted as mainstream. So you could say that I admire the modified community's definition of beauty.
